Experience Bavarian Inn European Elegance
The Bavarian Inn is a European-inspired 11 acre boutique resort. Here you’ll find old world charm, stellar food, and luxury accommodations, as well as modern touches. The Shepherdstown WV inn is located just an hour from Washington, DC.
The Bavarian Inn is like a European destination wedding, without the travel hassle and expense. Says Director of Sales Brenda Morrison, “We are a complete destination wedding experience. And you won’t find a prettier property with a AAA Four Diamond rating.”
European Elegance on the Potomac
Forty years ago Erwin Asam and his wife Carol dreamed of opening an authentic German restaurant. Their sons, Christian and David, also grew up at the inn and became involved with the property in 2000. Through their vision, the resort now has modern touches such as an infinity pool overlooking the Potomac River, as well as a brew pub and micro brewery.
Award-winning German and American cuisine anchor the resort’s menus. The Greystone Manor Potomac Room offers formal dining. You’ll also experience fine dining at Rathskeller and more casual fare at Bavarian Brothers Brewing.
Wedding Weekend Elegance at Bavarian Inn
Upon arriving at the Bavarian Inn, you and your guests will feel as if you have stepped back in time to a small European village. You’ll find everything you desire for a wedding weekend. After all, the inn’s motto is “The only thing we overlook is the Potomac.”
Speaking of overlooking the Potomac, the terrace next to the infinity pool is an ideal ceremony location. Or exchange wedding vows at the gazebo. The Potomac Room is the largest reception space. It accommodates up to 125 with a dance floor. The Terrace Room and Brew Pub offer more intimate locations. You can also expand with a tent.
Wedding packages are $75 – $110 per person. Keep the party going with late night snacks like soft pretzels, meatball sliders, buffalo wings, and wood grilled pizzas. There’s also an old fashioned popcorn trolley. Have a sweet tooth? The wedding team can put together a “candy shop” as well.
Meet Bavarian Inn’s Wedding Specialist
One reason the Bavarian Inn is so popular is the hotel’s wedding specialist Brenda Morrison. Not only is she an experienced event professional, she’s also a Certified Bridal Consultant. She holds Cornell University hospitality marketing certification and trained at the Culinary Institute of America as well.
Brenda and her team will put together a custom menu and timeline. They can also provide a list of preferred wedding vendors. Because of the inn’s popularity, Brenda suggests booking your wedding 12 months in advance.
Tears of Joy and Wedding Wisdom
And although she’s a veteran hospitality pro, Brenda still has a soft spot for weddings. After giving the bride’s dress a final fluff and sending her down the aisle, Brenda often sheds a few tears of joy. “When everyone is seated and the music is playing, sharing their happiness is my favorite thing about weddings.”
Brenda’s “words of wisdom” for wedding planning are simple: Calm Down. There are always going to be behind the scene hiccups on wedding day, so remember says Brenda, “We’re here for you.” And the complimentary mimosas in the bridal ready room also help.
Elope and Escape at Bavarian Inn
Looking for something more private? Then let Brenda put together a personal elopement package. Hold a ceremony on your hotel room balcony, then celebrate with a small dinner party.
The Bavarian Inn is also wonderful for close by honeymoons. The resort offers 72 beautiful rooms, many overlooking the Potomac, with gas fireplaces and whirlpool baths. In addition to the infinity pool, you’ll find tennis, basketball and bocce courts along with firepits for s’mores and a fitness room.
Need a more serious workout? Bavarian Inn guests have complimentary access to Shepherd Wellness Center. In town you’ll also find the C&O Canal for hiking and biking as well as German Street shopping. Find historic sites, golf, and outdoor adventures nearby – there’s also even a little gambling.
Get into the spirit of the Bavarian Inn at the resort’s Oktoberfest on Sunday, September 15th. Contact Brenda at (304) 876-0415 to discuss your wedding weekend. And you’ll find other close-by wedding destinations on Blue Ridge Bride.
